Art ain’t cheap

I watched a certain global sensation show over the past few days. I am a changed man. I will talk more about that on Monday. I hope you enjoy it.

I hope you enjoy this blog. Unfortunately, I don’t have any little pieces to show because I am all out. I think I better tell you about my recent creative escapades. I went to a spoken word open mic this past week and had a lovely time. I found another one in Dublin that I will be going to in a few weeks. I am excited about it. It’s great that these events are actually happening again. They may seem daunting to find, but when you do, you realise you don’t have to travel far to meet like-minded people, and the world becomes a nicer place.

This particular open mic I went to be the grand opening of an independent bookshop in my town. The best part is that it is a 10-minute drive from my house. There was a great turnout in a small room above an antique shop. I read three poems: Beautiful Man, Gran Gran and Woodland. These poems will most likely feature in my upcoming poetry pamphlet, which I will hopefully be putting out sooner rather than later. Stay tuned for that. There were members of my writers’ group there, so the nerves weren’t as high. That’s the thing about the arts; at the end of the day, everyone is supportive. Everyone else who was there was supportive of each other. The ages ranged from teenagers to OAPs, and it was a lovely night, topped off with a couple of pints.

I dropped the whole poetry pamphlet thing on you before. The poetry collection is still coming. I need to gather some funds for it. Art ain’t cheap, as the old saying goes. I have no idea if that is a saying. I guess it is now.

Thank you for reading my blog today. Apologies that I don’t have anything to share. I will share something next week, along with some more announcements. Stay tuned. See you on Monday for what I anticipate to be a very emotional blog.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your time.
