Betrayal

I have another short piece of writing for you today, dear reader. It is about betrayal. That was the prompt we were given. I did that but with a more light-hearted touch. Enjoy:

“Mam, I’m home!” I shouted as I entered the front door carrying my laundry bag from the week and my laptop bag.

“Well, welcome home. Good week?” Mam asked me, coming into the hallway, and hugging me.

“Ah yeah, at least it’s reading week next week”, I said slinging my weekend bag over my shoulder and making my way towards the stairs. Mam stopped me in my tracks.

“What do you want for dinner tonight?” she asked. It was my favourite part of Friday. I got to choose what we had.

“I saw on Facebook that Eco is open again. We said we’d go the first chance we got”, I said trying not to salivate too much.

“Oh, right,” Mam said awkwardly. I knew right away that something was wrong.

“Is that okay?” I asked puzzled. Mam paused for a moment.

“Your sister was home on Wednesday, and we went then”.

I froze, “pardon me?” I asked. Mam knew she had made a mistake instantly.

“I’m sorry, love. But we hadn’t seen her all month.”

“This is ridiculous, Mam!” How could you do such a thing?”

My betrayal knew no bounds. I was furious.

That’s all from me today, ladies and gentlemen. A bit of “comedy” to start your weekend. Eco is a pizzeria by the way. Also, this incident never happened. Thankfully. Speaking of pizza, I get to eat some tomorrow night. There is a wrestling PPV on. It’s all very exciting.

Thank you for reading. Enjoy the weekend.

Thank you for your time.
