My birthday party takes place tomorrow; he says as a 27-year-old man. No matter your age and no matter what you call it, gathering those you love and having a jolly old time never gets old. Especially since the past couple of years we have had. We are going to go all out for this day, let me tell you. There is going to be booze and pizza and…that’s kind of it for now. I don’t tend to go out in the town I live. Note how I said, “the town I live”. I didn’t grow up in this town, and so, I’m not familiar with what’s the “cool spot” to go to, as all the kids say. Probably.

When I moved here, I went out with some friends who came to visit and later learned that the place we went to didn’t have the best “law abiding” clientele. Since then, I have gotten to know more people and have found places I enjoy going to and feel safe in. That’s the most important thing at the end of the day.

But, as I said, we are not going out at all. That’s okay with me. There are people who are coming who don’t like to partake in the drinking culture and I want to respect that, because I love them. They know that; I’m sure.

We may watch some films. We like films. Who doesn’t like films? No friend of mine anyway. That’s a dealbreaker! I kid, of course. There are many films out there. Almost too many. When 2020 began to suck, everyone was watching the same stuff. Not me, I decided to go against the grain. Looking back, it was a bit silly. To this day I haven’t watched Tiger King or Normal People. I know. Sorry. Not sorry.

We may talk about me and how great I am. How narcissist does that sound? One of the few memories I have from my 18th birthday party is everyone complimenting me. I don’t really talk to anyone from that party anymore. That’s kind of a bummer. Every year on my birthday, my mother reminds me that it has never rained on my birthday. I doubt that is true, but that doesn’t stop her from mentioning it. Every. Single. Year. I love you, Mam.

This is a momentous occasion for another reason. It’s the first time two friends are meeting for the first time. Like many people, I have friends from different walks of life. I don’t mean I am friends with both a motorbike and a goat. I mean I have friends from different areas of my life. Two of my friends haven’t met in person yet and I am very excited to see how that goes. The universe might implode. If it does, my humblest apologies. If it doesn’t, then you should continue to not listen to anything this idiot says. That’s me, by the way.

I love my friends. I love my family. I get to spend some quality time with them tomorrow and for that, I am grateful. Thank you for reading. I hope you have a nice day. Also, you should tell someone you love how much they mean to you. It will be nice.
