I have been unwell all week. That answers the majority of the title of this blog. It has been pretty miserable. I couldn’t bring myself to write a blog on Monday. For that, I can only apologise. To make matters worse, I couldn’t go to my writers’ group on Monday either. So, I don’t have any new little writing pieces to share. I have had a good bit of time on my hands, as you can imagine. I can’t speak for every creative but for me when I am sick, I can’t create but I can consume. Let me tell you, I consumed the heck out of some poetry I have been meaning to read for a while.

When I got into performance poetry, I started watching as much as I could. That is one of the few good things about the internet. I had access to all these videos and organizations that do this sort of thing. One poet stood out in particular for me: Rudy Francisco. I watched a viral video of his uploaded by Button Poetry on YouTube and I was hooked. I bought his poetry collections a couple of years ago and have only come around to reading them now. They are mind-blowing. I am hooked. Isn’t just wonderful when you find an artist (singer, band, writer etc.) who just speaks to your soul? Maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but it’s my blog and I can write what I want.

Here is a link to one of his videos. I highly recommend it. There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to poetry. That’s why I like it so much. It can be cathartic for both the writer and the reader. Thanks for your patience today. I honestly didn’t know how this blog was going to go. I think it went well.
