Your ghost outfit

This one is morbid, but it was fun to write, nonetheless. One of the prompts given during a recent writers’ group meeting was “your ghost outfit”, i.e. What you are wearing when you die. This is what I wrote:

When I die, I hope I am wearing my beanie hat. It would be a shame to lose what makes me who I am. I hope I am wearing comfortable shoes. I have a lot of haunting to do. I hope I have my hair presentable. I hope I remember to use beard oil the day I die. In an ideal world, I hope I am wearing a waistcoat. I have no reason why; I just think it looks cool. I hope I am smiling.

I have to drive somewhere about an hour away today. It is still raining. It will be an adventure I suppose. I just hope my poor car can handle it. I don’t think I have ever mentioned Gary before. Gary is my car. I love him, but he is 14 years old, and I don’t have to tell you that is old man years in terms of cars.

That’s all I have to say. Wish me luck on my journey. I hope it will be worth it. I hope all is well with you.

Thank you for reading and thank you for your time.
