I think I believe in miracles.

I woke up at 5 am this morning. I have no idea why. Well, I have some ideas. I’m going to talk about it today, Friday, and share some interesting things that have been happening lately. Welcome to Friday. I have no fiction to share but I do have some content from someone else I would like to share on this fine Friday evening.

Are you like me? Do you discover someone or something and become completely obsessed with it for a month or two and then gradually obsess over something else? Well, I do. This month’s obsession has been The Miracle Morning. The Miracle Morning is a book I haven’t read yet. I know. How can I be obsessed with a book I haven’t read? Well, one of the things I have noticed about a lot of the podcasts I listen to is that the same guests tend to crop up around the same time that they are promoting something. Hal Elrod, the author of The Miracle Morning, has been this person for me lately.

I knew of Hal’s work a bit. I heard about the idea of “the miracle morning”. I decided to investigate further. I listened to a couple of interviews and talks that he did over the years, and it all resonated with me a fair bit. As someone who hasn’t had the best sleep this year and has felt a near-consistent sense of hopelessness throughout the year, I came to the point that I was willing to try anything. So, I did my research, and it turns out there is an app that takes you through everything. I splashed out a bought the app after a few days because something about it helped my mental well-being throughout the day.

The whole practice is based on an acronym called SAVERS. This is the framework of The Miracle Morning. SAVERS stands for Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading and Scribing. These are the activities that Hal recommends you do first thing when you wake up every morning. It doesn’t have to be in that order. This may sound all pretty self-explanatory but in case it isn’t (and you have the time) here is a talk that Hal did a couple of years ago that I watched last night. I felt great afterwards. He’s a great speaker. There are other videos on YouTube and even a full documentary film. I would give it a go if I were you. Frankly, I am not even trying but I am doing at least a little bit of each activity every morning and I am starting to see the positive results at an alarmingly good rate. You could say it’s pretty miraculous.

That’s all I have for you today. I went to see Thumper last night for the second time. I will probably talk about that on Monday. Until then, thank you for reading and thank you for your time.
