More LUAS Adventures

I have done a lot of travelling over the past couple of days. It’s all good to have the willingness and intention to “get after it” and try to be Superman, but I am not. I had to take a rain check yesterday and take a breather. No shame in that. Let’s talk about Saturday. Before I get to the more light-hearted and whiny stuff you know and love from this blog, I want to talk about my neighbours quickly. Unfortunately, they were victims of a crime recently. I just wanted to say that I am thinking of them and hope they are doing well.

I was heading to Dublin on Saturday for OTT Wrestling. It’s one of my favourite things to do. If you aren’t a wrestling fan, I recommend going once, at least. I have brought many friends who aren’t wrestling fans, and they all enjoyed themselves.

I drive to my nearest LUAS Park & Ride and get to the platform. A notice says the LUAS only goes as far as Beechwood, which is a stop about four stops from where I usually get out. This was due to maintenance work. I am old and dumb enough not to get upset. This kind of work has to be done. The notice also said that LUAS tickets were valid for the bus. That was fair enough. I never got out at Beechwood, so this would be a fun adventure.

The LUAS arrives at Beechwood, and stewards there, shepherding the crowd towards the buses. I had no idea what to expect. I naturally assumed that the nearest bus stop was just down the road. It wasn’t. The hordes of passengers from the LUAS then had to walk about 10 minutes to the area's main street and the nearest bus stop. At this point, there were no stewards around. Luckily, I was familiar with the buses at the bus stop, and I generally knew where they would take me. The buses were running as normal. No, that wasn’t a good thing. Given the situation, you would think there would be a bit of an increase in the services.

The LUAS passengers and bus passengers all stood at this tiny bus stop and turned into savages at the sight of the next bus. It was about half an hour before I actually got on the bus. I got off close enough to where I intended to go. I grabbed some fast food (and I mean fast) and raced to the show, about an hour behind schedule.

How was the show? Not great, to be honest, but that’s a story for another day. I am heading to Dublin once again today, and I will no doubt tell you all about it soon. Have a lovely rest of your week.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your time.
