The Cridley Gentleman’s Hunting Society

I had the pleasure last night of going back home to Waterford to Garter Lane Arts Centre for A LITTLE ROOM AND KIERAN WALSH PRESENT "THE CRIDLEY GENTLEMAN'S HUNTING SOCIETY.” Kieran is a good friend and an incredibly talented actor and writer based in Waterford. A Little Room is a theatre development centre in Garter Lane where creatives can book a space for a month to work on a creative project. The synopsis of the play is as follows:

“In 1895 a world-renowned hunting society of five men ventured from their hometown of Cridley, England to the majestic plains of Africa with one goal: to hunt an elephant.

However, their journey is fraught with vicious rivalries and moral quandaries, so such a task will present them with the greatest challenge of their lives. An absurdist comedy tackling the stiff upper-lipped upper crust and the perils of peer pressure told through the lens of a distant memory brought about by a letter from a colleague…”

Kieran has been working on the play for a couple of years now and hopes to stage a full production of the play in the next couple of years. I, for one, cannot wait to see whatever comes of it. It is an incredibly well-written, witty, and absurd farce and I have no doubt it will be a success.

So, keep an eye on Garter Lane Arts Centre and Waterford theatre. Waterford has a passionate and hardworking arts sector, and that is one of the reasons I am proud to call it my hometown.

That’s all for today, dear reader. Support the arts. Thank you for reading and thank you for your time.
